Many of my favourite pictures are grab shots. The scene is not set up, it's just people in my life going about their business. Something about the the moment makes the camera appear in my hands and, if I'm lucky, I can make at least one exposure before it's gone.
Often the picture is made before the camera has been noticed. If the subject's typical reaction to a camera pointed at them is to bury their face and flail their arms like they think it's going to steal a piece of their soul, then this is usually the way I get a first photograph. The 'click' is regularly followed by good natured wailing and complaining, which is quickly replaced by curiosity about the picture, then genuine pleasure, and the plastering of the image all over their social media.
Owning huskies is a perfect excuse to get out and shoot, in all kinds of conditions.
